What is GIF Editor?

GIF Editor is a free, browser-based tool that traces every frame of an animated GIF through the same vector-tracing engine used by Image to SVG, then re-encodes the result into a new, vectorized-look GIF.

How it works

  1. Upload a GIF by dragging it in or choosing a file — under 10 seconds and 50 MB.
  2. Adjust threshold, edge smoothness, color mode, and the other tracing settings to fine-tune how each frame gets traced.
  3. Click Generate and download the finished GIF once every frame has been traced.

Frequently asked questions

Is GIF Editor free to use?

Yes. Uploading a GIF, tracing every frame, and downloading the finished GIF are all free, with no account or subscription required.

What's the size and length limit?

GIFs up to 50 MB and 10 seconds long are supported.

Does it keep the original animation speed?

Yes. GIF Editor reads the source GIF's own frame rate rather than forcing a fixed one, so the traced result plays back at the same speed as the original.

Do you keep a copy of my GIF?

No. Uploaded GIFs and the traced output are held on the server for up to 30 minutes to allow processing and download, then deleted — see the Privacy Policy for details.
